Senior Associate Athletics Director for Strategic Communications (Finance)
1. Develop, manage and execute department-wide communication and media relations plans and strategies that align with the core mission, goals and objectives of the Athletics Department.
2. Develop and maintain strong relationships with external media contacts at the local, regional, and national level; identify opportunities to increase visibility, brand and exposure of the Athletics program.
3. Manage the employees of and supervise the activities of the Athletic Communications and Media Relations unit.
4. Direct and supervise all media and communication strategies, plans and activities for Athletics Communication Department; including UH Football and other programs as required to include athletic website, social media, email, and other external communication platforms.
5. Create original and robust content to promote UH administrators, teams, coaches and student- athletes.
6. Work in collaboration with other key internal units and external stakeholders in creating, managing and supervising social media strategies, plans and tactics for UH Athletics; along with planning and executing respective sport programs assignments, requirements and needs.
7. Work in coordination with Content Solutions Team to create and execute robust compelling digital content to increase the visibility, brand and exposure of the Athletics programs.
8. Work with multimedia rights partners on various initiatives including coaches? radio show, TV show, print publications and digital partnerships.
9. Collaborate with internal and external constituent groups to create and execute engaging and compelling storylines and content across various multi-media and communication and marketing platforms that promote Athletics Department announcements, stories and news.
10. Responsible for Athletics Department crisis management communication response plans while working with the Vice President of Athletics and/or University's Communications Crisis Response Group as required.
11. Maintain digital statistical files/archives for the department and related sports programs.
12. Serve as spokesperson/ambassador for the Athletics Department and the University of Houston. At all times and in all settings represent the Department and University in a way that positively reflects and grows affinity for all things UH.
13. Perform other duties as assigned
MQ: Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Experience: Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience.
