River Recreation Program Instructor - Share Your Love of the River!
Starting Hourly Rate: $20.42
Work Schedule: May to September, weekdays (mornings and evenings). Flexible schedule estimated 4-10 hours per week.
Love being on the water and sharing your passion with others? Lead exciting river recreation programs for adults and children! Programs, include River Kids (for preschoolers with an adults), Kayak Instruction, SUP Instruction, Kayaking for Seniors, and Adapted Kayaking. Enjoy free boat rentals as a perk of the job!
Instruct River Recreation programs at the City of Ann Arbor Liveries. Provide instruction, and build confidence, for participants of all ages. Teach structured class activities for small groups. Demonstrate excellent customer service. Attend required in-house training. Behave professionally, work as a team player, and adhere to City policies.
Nature of Work:
Instructs public river recreation programs at the City of Ann Arbor Liveries. Provides instruction and leadership to implement our outdoor recreational programs that include kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding for the general public with participants of all ages. Responsible for the supervision of structured class activities for a small group of people. Demonstrate excellent outdoor program customer service skills and attend in-house training as required. Behave in a professional manner, work as a team player and adhere to program policies. River recreation programs include fun activities in parks and on boats with preschool age children and their caregivers and teaching basic boating skills to adults.

Positions in this class typically require paddling a boat, walking, standing, hearing, speaking, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, grasping, reaching, and repetitive motions. Must be able to move and lift light objects up to 30 lbs., including carrying a 55 lb. kayak or stand-up paddleboard with another person. Must have the physical ability to perform physically challenging work outdoors and in all weather conditions.
