Develop relationships with our co-manufacturer partners' food safety and quality members through conversations and visits with our key partners.
Become familiar with and develop an understanding of the manufacturing operations at our co-manufacturer partners.
Secure product and conduct random quality audits to verify co-manufactured items are meeting Johnsonville product quality specification as well as sensory attributes for flavor and texture.
Collect, analyze, and distribute data related to co-manufacturer product quality adherence
Identify and maintain a register of all co-manufactured items that have gluten free claims and ensure annual testing is completed on all items supporting the claim.
Represent Food Safety and Quality on new product/project teams
Participate and assist in new partner approval audits and assist in collecting third party audits from our existing partners annually.
Develop and publish formulation and finished good processing procedures with assistance of the new product developer to ensure all key steps and control points for product quality and safety are identified.
Ensure product quality manuals and defect guides are created on new items and kept current for existing products.
Troubleshoot day-to-day food safety and quality opportunities that arise with our co-manufacturing partners.
Assist with special customer requests for technical documents and supplier info.
Track consumer data and evaluate trends and comparison on co-manufactured retail items from year to year and share with partners for improvement opportunities.
Share best practices with our partners as developed through the company Exceptional Product Team to enhance product quality and safety.
Coordinate product holds internally and at our outside cold storage locations.
Handle issues that arise in the absence of the FSQ Coordinator - Co-manufacturing
Education:
Bachelor of Science (BS)in Food Science, Meat Science, Microbiology or related field required
Experience:
2-3 years of experience in a quality leadership role is desired
Experience in food required; meat/poultry processing preferred
Experience working under regulatory systems, USDA preferred
Skills and Competencies:
Intermediate knowledge and understanding of food safety requirements including HACCP
Basic understanding in statistical quality tools and continuous improvement processes (Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, etc.)
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite required
Experience with SAP desired
Understanding of Safe Quality Food program preferred
Desire to become a future leader (potential replacement for Food Safety Coordinator position or others within the company)
