Plant Manager (Project Management)
What you will do
Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing Operations , you will be responsible for directing production and operations for our plant in Tampa, FL by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate managers and/or supervisors. This site is a unionized manufacturing facility, with approximately 275 associates, producing automotive, Marine, Motorcycle and Heavy Duty batteries,
How you will do it:
Lead by example to develop the plant salaried team, model leadership behaviors, and drive employee engagement while meeting customer expectations. Partner with the site HR Leader to maintain a healthy working relationship with union leadership.
Develop and communicate a vision for the facility to all employees, conduct monthly all-hands meetings to communicate plant performance to goals, and work with the site Plant Controller to develop the plant operating plan and communicate monthly performance versus plan.
Drive safety, health, and environmental initiatives at the plant to keep employees safe and ensure full compliance with all laws and regulations. Develop and lead a plant operating rhythm and KPIs, including a daily Gemba walk to monitor and meet daily plant objectives.
Coordinate production activities with procurement, maintenance, quality, and operations teams to meet on-time fulfillment targets and internal and external quality goals. Plan and direct production activities, establish production priorities, and manage materials and control plant spending by monitoring KPIs for production requirements, overtime hours, and scrap/waste material.
Drive continuous improvement in the plant by sponsoring the use of Lean and Six Sigma tools, achieving and sustaining maturity levels in the Clarios Manufacturing System Model, and developing and implementing operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
Review and analyze production, quality control, maintenance, and operation reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications and operating or production problems. Coordinate with components master scheduling and peer Plant Managers across the components organization to balance production requirements and drive best practices. Manage key projects as assigned.
What we look for:
Required:
A bachelor's degree is required; Engineering or Business preferred
A minimum of 10 years of working in a manufacturing environment is required; 5+ years of experience in plant leadership is required.
Prior experience leading a union facility.
Demonstrated experience using lean manufacturing and Six Sigma tools preferred
Preferred:
Prior experience managing a turnaround environment.
Tampa - Fully Integrated Plant
Tampa, Florida is home to a fully integrated plant that manufactures batteries used in cars, boats, motorcycles, and heavy-duty trucks. As a fully integrated plant, we also decorate or label our batteries into the final product for our customers. We opened in 1958 and employ more than 280 people. We operate six days per week.
