Sourcing Manager (Project Management)
Job Summary
The Sourcing Manager plays a crucial role in managing Medline's global procurement sourcing strategies. The Sourcing Manager will oversee one or two Associate Sourcing Category Managers. Responsible for supporting the Sourcing Team for the finished goods or commodity product lines. Assist the Sourcing team with further developing and executing a sourcing strategy. Appraise and improve current sourcing activities by analyzing our current supply partnerships and offer new supply chain opportunities. Perform cross functional tasks with our Product Management and Product Development teams to develop new products and optimize our costs. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead negotiations for favorable terms, volume discounts, and long-term contracts with suppliers and vendor partners. Oversee direct spend categories to drive cost efficiency, maintain supply continuity, and reduce risks while aligning with organizational goals.
Manage $150M spend across key medical and raw materials.
Provide strategic insights on Global and geopolitical changes impacting tariffs, raw materials and regulatory requirements. (Tariff rates, new laws, and natural resources). Provide insights and overview on impacts related to global events and regulations. Work with industry peers to seeks global solutions. Leverage Government Affairs team for advocate for Medline across managed categories.
Manage a broad portfolio of managed categories leveraging sourcing experience to drive continuous improvement across all Category Managers with the goal to contain costs, drive improved raw material consumption, and other-cost down initiatives. Drive advanced negotiations and operational gains across all vendors.
Develop and execute sourcing strategies to support business objectives. This includes conducting market research, managing spend, and negotiations (most favorable terms, volume discounts, promotions, cost down initiatives and long-term contracts)
Analyze supplier price increase submissions and evaluate their total impact against rebates to understand the financial effect on the division. Lead negotiations with vendors to secure cost avoidance strategies or savings opportunities, ensuring alignment with business goals and maintaining budget efficiency.
Execute on strategic risks identified by Category Managers by developing country-specific sourcing risk assessments. Consider factors such as multi-country sourcing, dual sourcing options, and geopolitical influences. Recommend category-level adjustments based on these assessments to mitigate risks and ensure continuity of supply.
Manage a broad mix of product categories and become the subject matter expert on product requirements, manufacturing processes, raw materials, and other value drivers. Analyze cost inputs to identify opportunities for cost optimization and ensure the best-cost solutions for Medline. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive sourcing and procurement strategies that align with business goals.
Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers, negotiating pricing, managing supplier performance, ensuring on-time delivery, and enforcing compliance with contracts. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address any performance issues and ensure suppliers meet Medline's expectations.
Provide insights on domestic and global supply chains, assessing the impact of tariffs and other geopolitical risks. Work with internal teams to understand how these factors influence sourcing strategies and product availability and help develop solutions to mitigate potential disruptions.
Oversee the evaluation of sourcing strategies for domestic versus import suppliers, driving Make vs. Buy analysis for sourced products. Ensure that decisions are aligned with business goals, cost-effectiveness, and supply chain continuity. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement sourcing strategies that maximize value and minimize risk.
Drive the identification of cost-savings opportunities within assigned product categories to achieve GM growth. Oversee the implementation of Medline-branded opportunities and lead negotiations for long-term supplier contracts, both domestic and import, to ensure best pricing and stable supply. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align strategies with business goals.
Work collaboratively with Medline Shanghai, Supply Chain, Quality and Product Management teams to maintain and develop vendors and products to reduce supply risk and ensure a healthy supply chain.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Education
Bachelor's degree.
Work Experience
At least 5 years of sourcing experience.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Experience directly managing people including hiring, developing, motivating, and directing people as they work.
Experience leading category strategies, supplier relationship management, sourcing initiatives.
Experience negotiating with outside vendors, including negotiating contracts, prices and reconciling differences.
Experienced in documenting procedures and internal controls.
Experience analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.
Experience controlling and coordinating concurrent projects, competing priorities and critical deadlines.
Ability to work across multiple time zones and locations.

The anticipated salary range for this position:
$110,240.00 - $165,360.00 AnnualThe actual salary will vary based on applicant's location, education, experience, skills, and abilities. This role is bonus and/or incentive eligible. Medline will not pay less than the applicable minimum wage or salary threshold.
