Quality Engineer (R&D)
Job Overview
Ensure the quality and safety of aerospace components and systems by developing, implementing, and maintaining quality standards throughout the design, manufacturing, and testing processes. This role requires strict adherence to industry regulations and government compliance while proactively identifying and resolving quality issues. Through thorough inspections, root cause analysis, and corrective actions, you will help guarantee the reliability and safety of aircraft and spacecraft. Reports to the Quality Manager.
Responsibilities
Monitor and test the quality of products and processes while ensuring compliance with standards, identify issues, recommend solutions, and create quality documentationMonitor and improve the quality of operational processes and outputsDevelop and implement quality standards and quality control systemsInspect and test materials, equipment, processes, and products to ensure quality specifications are met Ensure workflows, processes, and products comply with safety regulationsMonitor and analyze quality performanceCollaborate with the plant manager to develop and implement controls and improvements. Recommend improvements to production processes to ensure quality controlInvestigate and troubleshoot products or production issuesDevelop corrective actions, solutions, and improvementsReview codes, specifications, and processesPerform regular quality assessments on all incoming materials from vendors and outgoing products for shipping.Responsible for maintaining a clean, organized work area, and the quality department area generally, in accordance with company programs, policies, and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High school diploma required Must hold a valid Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) certificateAdvanced Knowledge of AS9102C and Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) Methodology/Requirements Degree in quality, industrial, or mechanical engineering preferred American Society for Quality (ASQ) certificate preferred Metrology Certification is preferred 2 years of experience in quality engineering, quality assurance, or a similar roleExperience coding and using quality assurance (QA) software tools and processesStrong communication and interpersonal skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent project management skills
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts: Individuals who inspect material for final acceptance must have: Color Vision Eye Examination annually per IFT vision requirements Near-Vision Eye Examination annually per IFT vision requirements The Individual(s) must meet the minimum standards in one eye with or without glasses/contacts
Travel
Local and overnight travel may be required occasionally

Compensation
The wage range for this role reflects the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Imagineering Finishing Technologies, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $60,000-$70,000.
