The Honickman Companies is a leader in the beverage industry with over 66 years in the marketplace. With offices in the Mid Atlantic Region (MD, VA, NJ and NY), we are seeking a District Sales Manager to be part of our Team in our Springfield, VA office.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Plans, organizes, directs, and controls the activities of the sales function in order to maximize sales volumes and revenue.
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following responsibilities are general duties that a particular employee in this position may or may not be required to perform. The actual duties required of this position will vary.
- Assists in developing and implementing comprehensive business strategies and marketing plans.
- Responsible and accountable for sales and revenue/margin plan attainment.
- Directs a staff of sales and administrative personnel including hiring, training and performance management.
- Provides assistance to sales reps with customer relations strategies/issues.
- Reviews sales activity, performance and training needs with sales personnel.
- Provides sales coaching and training on the street and in sales meetings.
- Pro-actively contacts assigned accounts to identify customer needs, changing requirements, or potential problems and resolve accordingly.
- Maintain Company owned cold drink and display equipment in the trade and ensures compliance with exclusivity policies.
- Develops and maintains a thorough knowledge of the Company's available services, product line and pricing structure, promotional activity and sells additional services as appropriate to existing customers.
- Responds to service change requests or requirements by processing orders in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner.
- Exercises judgment in resolving service, billing, or pricing problems not resolved by other departments.
- Develops and maintains an awareness of market behavior and competitive trends and responds accordingly.
- Completes all required sales reports in a timely fashion.
- Continues sales and industry training, as assigned.
- Performs other duties as required.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION:
- Equivalent of (1) Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing or closely related field and minimum of 4 years of directly applicable experience as a sales representative and/or sales manager; OR (2) 7 years of directly applicable experience as a sales representative and/or sales manager.
- Must maintain a valid Driver's License.
- Experience in the beverage industry.
- Experience developing comprehensive strategies, business and sales plans, and schedules.
- Two years' experience recruiting, hiring, leading, and managing performance for an outside sales team.
We offer a competitive salary of $70,000 - $75,000/yearly with e xcellent benefits which include medical, dental and vision. Eligibility in benefit plans begin the first of the month after 90 days of employment . 40 hours of sick leave; 1 week of vacation after a year of service, 9 Company Paid Holidays (pro-rated based on hire date) and a 401K Plan with employer match.
