Responsibilities:
Facilitates management of risk management programs; assists in the development and review of plant programs and procedures to assure accuracy and consistency.
Ensures the annual training schedule is established and monitors completion of EHS training through documentation. Obtains or develops EHS training materials. Presents or coordinates EHS training sessions.
Development and periodic update of EHS written programs.
Assists in the tracking of key performance indicators and deliverables providing direction and support to the site. Assists in the review of capital and EHS related projects. Develops, facilitates and executes skills building programs.
Establishes and guides the plant Safety Committee to facilitate the implementation of pertinent policies and procedures for the assigned operations. Ensures the Committee is involved in Job Safety Analyses, the behavior observation process, and other hands-on activities.
Consistently monitors and reports on progress of EHS plan to stakeholders. Presents reports defining progress, opportunities, and potential solutions. Assists in auditing plant status and progress and case management.
Compiles plant communication to meet corporate reporting requirements. Maintains central repository for site EHS related documentation. Reviews required regulatory reports prior to submission.
Facilitates industrial hygiene monitoring and reporting.
Shall report any and all food safety or quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
Shall be responsible for enforcing GMP's.
Performs other tasks as assigned.
Experience, Skills & Education:
BS in Safety, Industrial Hygiene or Environmental Science preferred but will consider equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred minimum of 3-5 years experience
Ideal candidates will be proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access)
Solid understanding of OSHA, EPA and other key EHS regulations / websites
Preferred candidates will hold a CSP or CIH certification, OSHA 30 hour, SQF Practitioner and be a First Aid / CPR/ AED trainer.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands:
Must be able to conduct plant walkthroughs and inspections/audits up to 4 hours at a time, to include walking and climbing up/down stairs and ladders (portable, fixed).
Must have the appropriate level of sensory acuity (visual, hearing, speaking, smell and touch) to be able to identify and react to normal, abnormal and alarm conditions (chemicals, temperature, etc.).
Must be able to logically and methodically work through and break down complex problems and processes to enable effective communication with all levels of the organization.
